AI’s scientific goal is to understand intelligence by building computer programs that exhibit intelligent behavior. ESs are derived from a branch of Computer Science research called “Artificial Intelligence” (AI). Building an expert system therefore first involves extracting the relevant Knowledge from the human expert in a way that can be used by a computer, which is generally a difficult task that requires its own expertise. Expert Systems are meant to solve real problems, which normally would require a specialized human expert.
